Lisa M. Stokes, DDS, MS, PA
Dr. Stokes received her DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, Texas, where she graduated with one of the highest scholastic standings in her class. She was awarded the Texas Dental Association’s Outstanding Senior Dental Student Award. In addition, she received an American Association of Orthodontists Award in her future specialty, orthodontics, as well as numerous other awards for academic and clinical excellence. She was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.
Dr. Stokes also graduated with honors from her orthodontic residency at The University of Texas. She earned her master’s degree in orthodontics while completing her orthodontic residency.
Dr. Stokes is an active member of several national professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, Southwest Society of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. She has served on several professional committees including the Bylaws Committee of the American Association of Orthodontists, the New and Younger Member Advisory Committee of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Council on New and Younger Members to the American Association of Orthodontists, and the New Member Development Committee of the Southwest Society of Orthodontists. She has served as editor of the American Association of Orthodontists’ online newsletter, “NYMO,” and has held positions in various local and state dental organizations. Dr. Stokes is also a frequent speaker at professional symposia and seminars. In 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 she was recognized by her peers with the "Texas Super Dentist" award. This was, subsequently, published in the November issue each year of Texas Monthly magazine.
Dr. Stokes regularly gives of her time to the community. Annually, she sponsors field trips to her office to teach third grade students about the importance of good dental health. Her office also goes to the schools to speak to third graders about dental health. Her commitment to the community is also displayed in her generous charity involvement. Dr. Stokes is a provider of Smile for a Lifetime which is an organization that provides orthodontic care to individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to acquire assistance.
Dr. Stokes has served on the board of directors of several professional organizations and is active in her church and community. Faith, family and community have always been important to Dr. Stokes. Because of her strong Christian faith, her practice philosophy is that the patient always comes first. She and her husband, Jerry, were high school sweethearts and have three children, Emma, Griffin, and Brody. Dr. Stokes enjoys exercising, reading, swimming, watching movies, and anything involving her children and family.
